This is a simple compass and tape surveying system.
To actually survey land, you will need a Silva Ranger compass. This does more
than just tells you which way is north. It is the compass of choice for
professional geologists, foresters, prospectors, and guides, as well as
surveyors who need a preliminary survey. It has its own built-in protractor
and ruler. I sell the Silva Ranger compass for $39. It is also the best
compass for use with topographic maps, if you ignore Silva's instructions.
You must be able to read the compass to one degree. A lensatic compass (Army
marching compass) or a Boy Scout compass is not sufficient. If you think that
you have a usable compass, ask.
You will also need a tape measure. I sell a 200 foot Keson indestructable PVC
coated fiberglass surveyor's tape measure for $26.
You might want a circular protractor and tenths ruler, $1 each.
Shipping [$5] is by US Postal "Service" for the disk & UPS for the instruments.
Turnaround time is about two weeks [my clock speed is 1 microhertz]. Sometimes

your order to: Dave Beiter, CAVE Inc, ½ Fast Road, Ritner, KY 42639. An order
